You are running out of time if you want the supper duper Glowy Head Pete Pawn. By the time Tuesday's comic is up (assuming normal time), it will be too late. Of course if you don't care about that, there's no hurry. ---- Vote for Sluggy Freelance at Top Web Comics. Remember to vote EACH day. Mon=[#144 -0 *360] Tue=[#142 +2 *390] NCoID™10

Looks like Pete's in for close to 500 of those guys.
This comic page is why I was loathe to spec anything about Chen. I think we're about to learn what his deal is, and it ain't gonna be pretty.

Oasis looks terrified in that 5th panel. She obviously does not have happy memories of her childhood. Oasis has already happened to Dr Steve. I hope she gets to happen to Dr Chen as well. The soundtrack for today is Lily of the Valley from the Cat Lady soundtrack.

Disturbing. Fear even overcame her defense instinct. Yodimus_Prime wrote: This comic page is why I was loathe to spec anything about Chen. I think we're about to learn what his deal is, and it ain't gonna be pretty. Right.

This is scary, to see someone so strong gripped by fear because of her childhood memories.
When I was a kid I read the Moomins in comic form, and there was the Groke, like a giant black ghost, moving about like death itself, killing all plants nearby with chilling darkness. Even today a picture of the Groke brings back the memory of my fear back then, that primal fear of cold, silent, unstoppable death. Brr. I think I'll go out in the sun now.

I'm assuming he's going for the brain, so let's hope that syringe is full of a strong pain killer!

No B1? That flashback panel looks like it's from a time when Steve and Marcus worked on the Oasis project together at Hereti-Corp. I would have thought that would make Marcus a Hereti-Corp employee in Oasis' eyes.
Also, I see which details Oasis remembers most clearly: The syringe, the command watch, and the straps on the bench.

I might be more sympathetic if Oasis wasn't in her stupid hair and outfit...oh no wait, what am I saying, I just never liked Oasis.

"Learned helplessness," I did a project on that subject in a psychology class many years ago. It's common for people who were helpless during a traumatic event to forget that they're not helpless anymore when subjected to it again. The lamp is rather blurry, like most of the picture. The sharp details are what's etched into her memory: The things she was afraid of, and the reasons why she was helpless.
