Clearly the red eyes stole Sam's shades to hide into the background. While looking cool.

As for Torg's Jacket, maybe it was also cold? I dunno... :riff:

I don't think it was meant to be read as a double negative. More like he was repeating himself to regain a lost train of thought.

I think it's showing the eyes moving back into the mist after it mind-wiped our heroic (?) duo.

That was my interpretation as well. It's jarring to us, because it's jarring for them (and Pete is a good storyteller).
