So... I'm pretty sad that the general chat has fallen into disuse. This place was the foundation of the formative years of my adult hood. I can safely say that the people on these forums helped shape who I would grow up to become. To see such a great relic of my past with halls empty is something I don't wish to see anymore, so I'm encouraging everyone to come back and post about something!

Movie you saw? Book you read? Something that happened the other day? Random thought? Post it! Reply to other people's threads! No conversation is gonna get started if we don't get up and make something happen. I'll be swinging by and trying to start up conversations where I can and I'm hoping people respond. If you're still in contact with people from the old days using other means then poke them and send them this way. I'd appreciate the company.

That's an interesting thought Dot. Do you suppose the advent of social media has strangled the interest in "old media" web content like this here forum? I've been wondering why traffic has become so stagnant here. It could just be lack of interest in The Comic I suppose. I "Like" the Sluggy fan page on Facebook, but it's probably less active than this place! (Which is saying something...)

It does seem like messageboards have experienced a universal decline, probably related to them being an older interface in an online landscape that has greatly transformed.

As far as The Comic, it used to be the biggest fish in a very small pond (webcomics), but the fish stayed the same size while the pond became an ocean...

Someone elsewhere linked an article kitoba wrote about Jedi ten years ago, so I came to see if this place was still around.

*kicks tires*

Guess so.

I'll probably lurk for a while to reap responses because I'm needy like that.

FREAKY BOY! HI! It's so good to see you. Really. I am genuinely glad to see you. Hey, there's a Fallout thread around here somewhere that probably could use your wisdom!

Also, Kitoba wrote an article about Jedi?

If FB is back then I might believe this place could actually be revived! :kiki:

Currently here: http://popculturephilosopher.com/jedi-philosophy

It's kind of cool to think people I know are seeing it out in the world somewhere (you know, independent of me directing them to it). Where'd you see it, FB?

I have vague recollections of reading that before, but I had completely forgotten about it. Thanks for re-posting.

How crazy that, after months and months of not logging in, I happen to stop by today and see this thread???

I am connected with Dot on Facebook, but other than that, I do not believe I am connected to any Sluggites (maybe on my older FB account I stopped using in 2009). If you want to find me, just search her friends list for the Adam with the moustache and beer!

I still check in every once in a while, mostly out of habit, to see if anyone's posted anything. I use a knitting website instead of Facebook (yes I'm a dork). I mostly hang out on their forums for social interaction nowadays - they don't only talk about knitting.

I miss how this place used to be though. It's sort of this self-reinforcing cycle for me, where I don't bother to post here because I figure nobody would reply anyway. Ehn.

In other news, Ngau and I got around to getting engaged, it only took 10 years.
